George J. Filley III:
George Filley is the retired elected Victoria County Criminal District Attorney, having served in the Criminal District Attorney’s Office from 1979 through 1998. He has been professionally involved with the Texas criminal justice system since 1968 as a former peace officer, prosecuting attorney, and criminal defense attorney. He has practiced criminal trial law in Texas courts since 1976 and is Board Certified as a Criminal Law Specialist by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1981. In the course of his professional career, he has served as a former elected County Attorney (Kleberg County) and former felony prosecutor for the 105th Judicial District of Texas (Kleberg, Kenedy, and Nueces Counties), a Police Legal Advisor, Special Crimes Investigator, Police Officer, and Deputy Sheriff. At the time of his retirement from the State of Texas he held the Master Peace Officer’s Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. He has also served as an adjunct professor of Criminal Law and Procedure at the Victoria College, Bee County College, and Victoria Police Academy. Since 1999 he has practiced exclusively in the area of criminal representation across the state, both in the area of trial representation as well as pre-trial and investigative stage representation.
